If you are looking for that one person who is a perfectionist, that one person is me. I so much love perfection, so it makes sense that I decided to take the stage lighting course at TAFTA to become the best Lighting Technician I can be. Did I become a perfect lighting technician? Not yet, at least for now. But I’ll be in no distant time. Regardless, I have come out as a much better lighting technician.

I am Okeke Chigozie and I took the stage lighting course at TAFTA. Before taking the stage lighting course at TAFTA, I had little knowledge about stage lighting. But now, I can confidently differentiate between white and blue lights and where they should be used during stage setup. I have also gained hands-on experience with lighting consoles, focusing techniques, and understanding how to create mood with lighting. In addition, I can now set up and adjust lighting rigs, work with different lighting angles, and use color to bring a scene to life.
I think I am ready to take on more complex stage lighting projects and enhance the visual impact of any performance.
What makes the stage lighting course at TAFTA particularly special is that I didn’t pay anything for it. It’s still surprising to me that I received training that others would have paid for—at no cost. I’m grateful to my friend who told me about TAFTA and the opportunities they offer.
