A Star in the Making

Darasimi Nadi’s story is proof that while Nollywood continues to be shaped by its veterans, a new generation of young Nollywood actresses is also emerging, fresh talents preparing to showcase Nigerian cinema to the world. At just 14, Darasimi has already starred in more than a dozen films, positioning herself as a rising Nollywood star with a bright future.

Overcoming Early Doubts

Her journey, however, has not been a bed of roses. According to her, stepping into the world of acting came with doubts and resistance from her mother, who was initially hesitant about her pursuing a career in the industry. It took months of persistence before her mother’s mind was finally changed.

Making Her Netflix Debut in Tokunbo

One of the most remarkable highlights of her young career came when she starred in Tokunbo, a Netflix original directed by Nollywood icon Ramsey Nouah. For Darasimi, the project was both challenging and rewarding. In an interview with Punch Newspaper’s Sunday Scoop, Darasimi recalled, “It was not taxing to deliver my role because my character and I are alike. However, there were a few challenges because Mr. Ramsey always had a specific way he wanted things to go. For instance, he could want one’s voice to be very deep in some lines, and then light, like a singing bird in another. But above all that, it was beautiful and blissful working on set with everyone, and yes, there were a lot of memorable moments.” Beyond the learning curve, the experience marked her first appearance in a Netflix original, a significant achievement for a young Nollywood actress still carving her path.

For a 14-year-old talent, being recognized at such a prestigious platform not only affirms her skills but also sets her apart as a rising Nollywood star with extraordinary promise.

Building a Digital Connection

Beyond acting, Darasimi has built a strong online presence where she shares content about her daily life, allowing fans to connect with her off the screen. This visibility has helped her carve a unique space for herself among Nollywood’s Gen Z talents.
