So, I was discussing with a friend one day when she mentioned TAFTA. I didn’t remember everything she said to me about it, except that I could learn skills like scriptwriting, animation, and other creative fields. Scriptwriting caught my attention, and I would later go on to learn more on TAFTA’s website about the courses offered at the Academy.

My name is Victor Joseph, and I’m an entrepreneur. I took the scriptwriting course at TAFTA. I have always had challenges with creating characters and building a dialogue. As someone aspiring to tell stories that could be seen on screen, I knew I needed structured learning. But where would I find the money? My financial struggles made it seem impossible. At first, I tried watching videos on YouTube, but that only left me more confused. I needed a program that was planned and created with the learner in mind. So, you can understand my excitement when my friend mentioned TAFTA.

I took the course at TAFTA without paying a dime, and it gave me the clarity I had been searching for. I mentioned my initial struggles with creating characters and building dialogue; this course helped me find clarity. I also learned about story arcs and character motivations. Not only did the course dispel my doubts about my storytelling abilities, but it also corrected my misconceptions about what it takes to build a compelling narrative. It empowered me with the skills to structure scenes effectively and bring depth to my characters, making my stories more engaging and authentic.

Now, I feel confident creating characters. Although I still struggle a bit with crafting meaningful dialogues, I’m sure I’ll get through it. I have immense admiration for Kunle Afolayan and Bolanle Austen-Peters—the giants of historical films in our industry. I can’t wait for the day my story makes it to the big screen.

I’m based in Lagos.
