Why Gender and Safeguarding Matter
The issue of discrimination and inequality are issues that affect all individuals regardless of gender. This is to say that women, children, and gender minorities are predisposed to various forms of harm including but not limited to abuse, sexual assault, exploitation, and trafficking.
Also, gender norms and stereotypes create a gap in the way individuals can access certain opportunities. Safeguarding is an effective method of bridging the gap and ensuring inclusivity and diversity.
Key Principles of TAFTA Gender and Safeguarding
TAFTA Gender and safeguarding spans several key principles including, Intersectionality, Inclusivity, Empowerment, and Accountability. These key principles guide its experts in their efforts to create safe and inclusive environments.
