Four Plays, One Unforgettable Experience

The tickets sold out quickly. The hall was full to the brim. Some people even had to stream online. The lights turned off, and the audience waited for the drama while munching their popcorn and talking in hushed tones. TAFTA TALP‑X 4.0 performances

Suddenly, the lights came on, and the play unfolded. Not one, not two, but four. Four plays on one stage! It was a total shutdown at the Terra Kulture Arena on the 19th of July, 2025. The ooohs and aaahs of the audience filled the air as they were entertained, informed, and educated.

The actors weren’t everyday actors but people who had been trained at Terra Academy For The Arts (TAFTA), and they wowed the audience with their performances.

Jigida: Challenging Patriarchy

Opening the evening was the first play, titled Jigida. This thought-provoking drama challenged patriarchy in society and examined how unchecked power often enables male dominance. It also celebrated women who speak up and hold people in authority accountable for their actions. The highlight of this play was the unexpected plot twist, which sparked a range of reactions from the audience.

You Say!: Comic Relief

To lighten the mood after the heavy themes of Jigida, the second performance — You Say! — brought comic relief. A feel-good stand-up comedy piece, this play gave the audience a chance to relax and laugh. Its witty delivery and relatable punchlines created a lighter atmosphere while still maintaining the energy of the show.

Gbas Gbos: Family Drama

Next in the lineup was Gbas Gbos, a comedic family drama. This play cleverly explored the impact of cultural norms on relationships, while also shedding light on how parental interference can negatively affect marriages. The audience found it both entertaining and thought-provoking, enjoying the well-timed humor and familiar scenarios.

End Game: Musical Finale

Bringing the night to a powerful close was the final play — End Game, a musical. Although it featured vibrant songs and energetic choreography, End Game didn’t shy away from serious themes. It tackled the dangers of toxic relationships and advocated for leaving such environments before it’s too late. The fusion of music, movement, and message made it a striking finale.

Audience Reactions & Reviews

Viewers are still talking about the TAFTA TALP‑X 4.0 performances days after the event. All these plays got the hall in a frenzy. The audience was electrified by the performances; despite the fact that the plays were acted by TAFTA participants, they garnered a lot of amazing reviews. Bamike Olawumi-Adenibuyan, TAFTA ambassador, said,

“I learnt a lot. I was entertained. It was educative, and I would do this again.”

Another audience member added

“Today was so incredible. The actors were inspiring. I learnt so much — from female empowerment to domestic abuse. It was an amazing experience.”

TALP‑X: Putting Learning into Practice

TALP-X (TAFTA Action Learning Project), which is held quarterly, is an avenue for TAFTA participants to put into practice what they have learned at TAFTA. While giving a speech before the plays began, Mr Joseph Umoibom, the Academy Lead at TAFTA, said,

“At Terra Academy for the Arts (TAFTA), we believe that when we train our participants, we give them this opportunity to practice what they have learnt. From learnings and rehearsals to today, they are performing on the biggest theater stage in Nigeria.”

The reviews received from the audience showed that Terra Academy For The Arts (TAFTA), a free learning platform under Terra Kulture in partnership with Mastercard Foundation, is truly committed to achieving its goal of equipping individuals with the skills to make a lasting impact in both the theatre and film industries.
